Goals:
EMIOS is a framework that aims to provide a whole of services for storing and for sharing information about research activities.
Emios is based on the Environmental Memory concepts developed by the "Motive" CNRS committee and more especialy by Franck Guarnieri.

The concept of the Environmental Memory is described as the sum of explicit, persistent and structured data of knowledges, models and scientist expertise linked to an environmental observatory system on the long term in order to facilitate the access, the sharing and the reusability. [Guarnieri & al., 2002]

The implementation of EMIOS is based on MDE (Model Driven Engineering) technologies in particular EMF and Topcased.
- EMF as Eclipse Modeling Framework is an Open Source initiative developped by IBM and it is the reference in the MDE community.
- Topcased (a french Open Source project) is leaded by Aerospace Valley.

Objectifs :
EMIOS vise à être un environnement de développement d'application proposant un ensemble de services pour archiver et partager des informations sur les projets de recherhe en environnement.
Emios est basé sur les concepts de Mémoire Environnementale développés par le comité "Motive" du CNRS et plus particulièrement par Franck Guarnieri.

La notion de Mémoire Environnementale est décrite comme la somme des représentations explicites, persistantes et structurées des données, des connaissances, des modèles et des savoir-faire scientifiques attachés à un système d'observation à long terme de l'environnement en vue d’en faciliter l’accès, le partage et la réutilisation. [Guarnieri & al., 2002]
